Oil City Middle and High School Choirs

Congratulations to all of the members of the Middle School and High School Choirs for two excellent concert performances this week.  All of you met the challenges and performed phenomenally.  Special thanks to the leadership for helping expedite everything, and to the seniors for the thoughtful gifts.  Job well done!

Tonight's Swing Out will be live streamed at www.youtube.com/oilernews . Thanks to the Oil City High School Media Department for covering tonight's event. Double Bloom Flower Shop will be selling flowers outside the auditorium before tonight's performance.  Special thanks to Helen and her staff for the donation of tonight's stage decorations.

Oil City High School presents the 70th Annual Swing Out, "The Best of Broadway," tonight, Saturday, May 13th at 7:30 in the high school auditorium.  Tickets are $2 and can be purchased at the door.  Report time for A Cappella Choir is 6:00 and 6:20 for Women's and Concert Choir.  Doors open at 6:45.

For the third year in a row, a men's barbershop quartet from Oil City High School will be competing on the international stage.  OCHS's own Rebels of Rhythm placed 36 out of 49 quartets from around the world to submit videos to participate at the International Youth Barbershop Quartet Competition, to be held in Las Vegas on July 4, 2017.  Pending school board approval, Juniors Tyler Hare, Sid Cubbon, and Truman Littler, and senior Nick Dobson will be competing, as well as participating in an international youth chorus festival, to run concurrently with the convention.

Tickets are $2 and can be purchased at the door.

PARENTS:  Currently on 80, having left the last rest stop.  ETA: 9:10 PM.  Please park in the parking lot by the tennis courts and NOT by the curb.  We need to pull busses up to unload.  See you shortly!

Upcoming Events this Week: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19TH - Marianna's Hoagie Pickup from 3-5 in the HS Cafeteria.  If you come between 3:00 and 3:30 to pick up items, please park in the lot by the tennis courts.  Buses for the 5th grade run pull out between 3:15 and 3:30. THURSDAY, APRIL 20TH - Trip Review and Chaperone Meeting at 6:30 pm.  Location TBA.  Will update that information tomorrow.  All students attending the trip to New York City and their parents should plan to attend. SATURDAY, APRIL 22ND - 7th Annual Night of A Cappella at 7:30 in the HS Auditorium.  Tickets are $2 at the door.
